Alternative New Year’s Eve Parties in London

Amanda Gegg, December 2017

If you’re anything like me and feel that the pressure to have an absolutely amazing new year often outweighs the good time you end up having on the night then fear not! For those lucky enough to be spending their New Year’s Eve in London there are actually plenty of unique events going on that are a far-cry from the standard fireworks display, which of course is amazing but isn’t the be all and end all of our thriving city.

Therefore, we’ve put together a few choices that some might consider a little more interesting and believe me when I say it would be hard not to have a night to remember at any of these parties…

The Blitz Party, Village Underground Shoreditch
Giving new meaning to the term ‘dance like there’s no tomorrow’, the Blitz Party is back to ring in 2018 in an amazing 1940s makeshift bunker, which includes an expertly-equipped fancy dress station, an outstanding ‘big band’ and copious amounts of gin.

Masked Ball, Century Club Soho
For anyone worried about missing the fireworks this event is for you. Not only do you get to adorn some very chic masks for the evening but you’ll also get the opportunity to watch Big Ben strike 12 from one of the closest rooftop terraces.

Studio 54 Special, Blues Kitchen Brixton
If you’ve ever wondered whether the scandalous glamour of Studio 54 was all it’s cracked up to be then why not see for yourself when the Blues Kitchen set up their 70s-inspired reimagining.

The Party and the End of the Universe, The Vaults Waterloo
Whilst the name might be ambiguous, you can be sure that this won’t be your average night out. Taking place underneath Waterloo station, The Vaults team are this year inviting you to step in to another dimension and party like it’s your last night on earth.

Après New Year’s Eve Ball, Battersea Evolution
If you’d prefer to keep things more refined then Battersea Evolution is hosting the Alpine Party to end all others. At £180 a ticket, it doesn’t come cheap but they have the goods to back it up with a package that is all-inclusive of food, drink and spectacular entertainment.
