Are you afraid of the dark? Then luckily, you can have some dutch courage while facing Pitch Black – the cocktail experience which places its visitors in complete and utter darkness while serving them delicious drinks.
And then, one day, I discovered the bus, and my whole life changed. No more awkward stares. No more pretending reading the newspaper when all I wanted to do was stare at people. Why take the Bakerloo line that only takes 15 minutes from Queen’s Park to Oxford Circus when I can hop on bus 6 and be there in 40? Why stare awkwardly at the person opposite me when I can enjoy the beautiful London views from my bus’ window?
Offering multi-sensory drinking sessions, the Dans Le Noir of drinking aims to make punters forget about visual perceptions and focus more on the flavour, aroma and mouthfeel – their words, not ours – of the carefully created and curated drinks. The 90-minute experience starts with a warm welcome and a chance to acclimatise yourself to your environment with a glass of prosecco in hand. Then, after you’ve been eased into a false sense of security, you’ll be plunged into complete darkness and served four cocktails or wines that you can savour without surrounding distractions. Well, hopefully. This is a booze up after all. The drinks menu is kept hush hush so you’ll have to guess what you’ve been sipping until the lights go up and all is revealed to you.
Following a sold-out pop-up last year, Pitch Black set up shop in a more permanent home in a totally shady, secret location. However, sessions are currently only available on weekends before the end of October so if you fancy drinking yourself blind, be quick about it.
Tickets start from £39 and the location is only revealed once you’ve made your booking. For more info, click here.
