With the likes of Pop Brixton and the ever buzzing Brixton market, SW9 is already firmly on the map as one of London’s most fun culinary hot spots. And it’s not just the meat-eaters who are catered for as there’s a plethora of vegetarian delights on offer….here are some of our fave’s to check out the next time you’re tempted down sarf….


Franco Manca

Enjoy the ambiance of the bustling Brixton market vibe while you chow down on a ‘veg special’ pizza piled high with mozzarella, organic tomato, baked potatoes and onion. The relaxed atmosphere also makes it a great first date option. Warning: there is meat on the menu too but plenty of veggie options to take your mind off it.

Opting for a vegan lifestyle but your sweet tooth keeps playing with you? Thanks to Ms Cupcake, you can now have your cake and eat it. Whether your poison is lemon, Oreo or salted caramel, this cute little joint promises the naughtiest vegan cakes in town. Location : 408 Coldharbour Lane

Bean and Bun

No one should have to live without burgers, even if meat isn’t your thing. Trust us, you won’t want to miss Bean and Bun’s stall on Brixton Station Road Market on Saturdays. Their North African patties made from lentils, dehydrated beetroot or roasted chickpea, with all the trimmings will blow your mind. Location: Brixton Station Road

Alkaline Juice Factory

It does what it says on the tin. Get in here it you want your vits and you want them fast! Freshly made organic alkaline juices and vegan street food will leave you glowing. Alkaline power porridge, and the ‘best slow pressed juices’ in town are on the menu. Glow baby, glow.

Cafe Van Gogh

These guys got the memo that vegan was cool a while ago and have turned fully vegan. Now locals can enjoy a varied menu in that cute hidden courtyard. Boasting ‘London’s best vegan Sunday roast south of the river’ and the Meze Van Gogh with babaganoush, hummus, salads and pickles, this gaff really is a work of art. Location: 88 Brixton Road
