Who doesn't love a good staycation? As much as we adore London its always great to have a break away to explore what another city has to offer and we would definitely recommend Leeds.
This bustling city is less than a three hour train journey away from London which makes it a great spot for a little staycation. Here are six of our top things to do whilst you are there.
Go for a stroll around Roundhay Park
Featuring 700 acres of beautiful parkland, with gardens, lakes, woodlands and playgrounds for the kids as well as its own Tropical World attraction, Roundhay Park is located just 3 miles away from the city centre and is beautiful all year round.
Catch a show at Leeds Grand Theatre
Why not treat yourself and book a show at the city's Grand Theatre. Many of the UK's best shows come to Leeds. A few available to book now for this year include Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Grease The Musical and Disney's Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
Go shopping in The Arcades
Shop til you drop in The Arcades, Have a browse through a wide selection of independent shops, boutiques and small businesses. The Arcades comprise of the Victoria Quarter, Grand, Queens and Thorntons and are lovely places to mooch around.
Pay a visit to South Bank Leeds
Go where the locals go and discover the newly regenerated South Bank Leeds, With a fantastic selection of new restaurants, bars and shops, this one is definitely not one to be missed on your list of things to do during your staycation to Leeds,
Have a browse through Leeds Art Gallery and The Henry Moore Institute
Why not head out to explore the wonderful museums located around Leeds. Leeds Art Gallery is home to one of the best collections of 20th-century British art outside London. It showcases a wealth of paintings, sculpture, works on paper and media by well-known artists. What's even better is the fact that entry is free.
Just a minute away from the gallery, you'll find the Henry Moore Institute. Head here to view the incredible exhibitions and galleries on display.
Discover the historic houses and estates
There are several beautiful historical houses and estates to explore which are all close to the city centre. These include Harewood House, Lotherton, Kirkstall Abbey and Temple Newsam House and Farm. Each of them are suitable for the whole family to enjoy and feature gardens, parkland, a working farm, seasonal events and more!
